Kumquat — weird fruit
Gobbledygook — supercallafragilisticexpealladocious
Lollygag — favorite way to walk
Diphthong — phonetics

don't worry, i'm too lazy to "tag" anybody else...
Well, I settled how I'm going to Grimm's wedding--put the gas on my ever-growing Mastercard balance and then motor over to Brooklyn to stay with the Colaprete's. Basically because I can't afford to pay for a hotel room, so unless I slept on the floor in someone else's room, a friend's couch it is. From whence I will drive to Montauk in my beach formal attire on the night of the Autumnal Equinox...as long as I haven't died the day before from trying to negotiate the roads in and around NYC. This should be interesting...I learned to drive on country roads, and as far as I'm concerned driving in Buffalo does not count as a real city--the only time we have traffic jams is on the holiday weekends when the tourists are trying to get over the Peace Bridge. (or when there is construction on the 290, but that beast is a whole 'nother story. And not even in Buffalo anyway...)
I started auditing a class on Native American history Tuesday evening at Canisius college. My mom saw the notice about the class in the paper and after she told me that it would be free and open to the public I signed up ASAP. Its facilitated by a member of the history faculty at Canisius, but all but three of the class sessions are taught by members of the Iroquois Confederacy. I took it partly because I miss being in school and the classroom environment, but also because I'm just plain interested in Native culture and history. Tuesday's class was the introductory lecture, and the speaker spoke to us about the most important Seneca religious ceremonies and, "gave thanks," in both Seneca and English as a way of respectfully inaugerating the class. I feel like this is going to be a unique way to directly learn about another culture, and definately walked out of the class looking at the natural world in a different way.
I'm going on a full moon hike tonight at the Reinstein Nature Preserve. Hopefully the moom will be as spectacular as it was last night and do that halloween-y werewolf clouds thing...
i went home sunday after church to do some laundry and visit with the family and after three loads took a break to watch Grey's Anatomy. a very good episode--the one where everyone plays games...and george ended up in the basement at the hospital to find callies secret apartment and she cut his hair. probably my fav episode of the second season...
